My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Sassy! I’m a 5 year old sweet, loving and playful girl with medium to low energy. My previous owner passed away and I’m now looking for my new family!

I must tell you that I LOVE stuffed toys! I get so excited when foster mom throws toys so I can fetch them. I also love tug-a-war! Sometimes, when I play with my foster dad, I will give out a big AROOOO to let him know how much fun I’m having.

Do you like going for walks? Great, I do too! My foster mom said I walk very well on a leash and I’m happy to go for a car ride, too! I’ve met children in the park and I love getting pets and attention from them!

I have great house manners and I don’t jump on the furniture; however, if you want me to be your TV watching buddy I’m sure I could learn how to get up on the sofa to snuggle with you!

I’m house trained and haven’t had any accidents! I roam free in the house when my foster parents are gone and I don’t get into anything. I know basic commands and will go to the back door when I need to go potty. I sleep all night in my doggy bed in my foster parent’s bedroom; and I’m usually the last one up in the morning!

I’m looking for a compassionate family that spends a lot of their time at home. I’m still mourning the loss of my previous owner and also recovering from the stress of living alone in a shelter for several months. These recent experiences have triggered some separation anxiety which has been improving every day. I get sad when my foster parents leave and I will whimper and pace around the house looking for them. I will sometimes bark after my foster parents leave but will quiet down after a few minutes. I get yummy stuffed Kongs to keep me busy. My foster parents are very proud that I've recently started to settle down in my doggy bed when alone! I'm feeling safer every day since I know my foster family will eventually return home to me. I'm not destructive and I haven’t had any potty accidents when alone. I just need a family that can continue with my training and help me become the confident girl that I know I can be!

I go to doggy daycare a few days a week and I am having a great time playing with all my doggy friends. At home I can sometimes be alpha to my shy and timid foster sister so it’s recommended that I have a meet and greet with any potential future doggy sisters or brothers. I’m not aggressive around food, toys or bones.

I have hypothyroidism which requires I take a very inexpensive daily pill. Because it was not treated for a while, I have some fur loss on my back which is starting to grow back beautifully.

*Note from foster*: Sassy is a wonderful beagle with an adorable and silly personality. She weighs 38 pounds and is working on losing about 3 more pounds. Sassy weighed almost 50 pounds when she was surrendered and she has been working hard to drop the pounds and to get into shape. Sassy is very smart and picks up on training very quicly.
