My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Border Collie mix (we're just not certain what Sarah is mixed with..she mostly favors the BC) is a perfect dog for those with who are searching for an extremely smart, active and loyal companion. They're famous for their intelligence, great temperaments and loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and gentle. They (like all young dogs) require lots of exercise and love being with their people...if a walk or hike is the order of the day - count them in! These breed mixes are known to hike joyfully through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and like-sized or larger canines (Sarah loves all!).

Sarah is true to her breeding...she is a very smart herding dog who follows her instincts to get a job done. In doing so, Sarah can't discern between a rodent (she's happy to take care of any problem small creatures) and a very small dog or cat. With this being the case, Sarah's forever home must not include cats or dogs under 25 lbs . She's great with larger size dog-friends and will play very appropriately and happily with them.

Sarah is an adorable (with the most expressive eyes ever!) and engaging girl (perhaps initially shy but blossoms and falls in love with her people and friendly/gentle medium to large dogs) who was chosen for that coveted ticket to a new life in Colorado because of her kind temperament. Sarah is just 8 months old and 35 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 40 lbs when full-grown) and filled with hope and great intentions.

Sarah's Texas foster mom sent us the following report on this sweet girl:
Sarah is an absolutely beautiful Border Collie/maybe Aussie mix (or something mixed in that makes Sarah beautiful and sweet). Sarah is a playful dog and loves to go outside with other playful (but a bit larger) dogs and will play until you make her come in! She's like a little kid...so excited to play and doesn't want to end her day of fun.
Sarah is a very endearing girl...no doubt about it! She greets me in the morning with the cutest smile. I just have to brag about how she's progressing and coming out of her shell more each day. She is still fearful from her shelter experience so I hope her forever people love her enough to be patient and take time to just be together. I have no question that Sarah will be a dream come true pet if trained with love and clear boundaries. She is very young and does best when she'd been allowed to play puppy-hard and interact with her human and doggie friends during the day. And then she happily sleeps through the night. Sarah would be a dream-dog for anyone desiring to participate in agility! She has a natural talent and it would give her a job. We all know that herding dogs thrive when they focus on a task. Sarah is sweet and kind and I only ask that she be loved completely.

We would like to see Sarah in a home that includes her in family time and activities. We also feel strongly that Sarah's new family be willing to take that extra step to participate in training with Sarah. Some one-on-one time with a trainer would give Sarah the extra confidence (as it does all dogs) that will aid her as she matures. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes would also be a gift. These classes take a very smart dog like Sarah and teaches them the skills to be a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation.

Sarah would also be a wonderful companion for dog-savvy and active retirees who have the time and desire to provide exercise, training and be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Sarah would enjoy another playful dog to run and tumble with...she's so entertaining as she puts her positive energy into some serious play.

Sarah is in foster care in Boulder. We are currently setting up Meet & Greets and accepting applications and inquiries for this special girl. If interested in this sweet, playful and very loyal and smart companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
