Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Poncho is an approximately 40 pound, 5 year old beagle-basset mix that was surrendered by his owners to a very full animal shelter in South Carolina. This sweet boy received little to no exposure, so no one really knew he even existed until an email arrived at Penny Angels with Poncho’s pic and the information that he, along with 4 other dogs, were on the euthanasia list for the following day. Penny Angels offered to help and Poncho went to a foster home in South Carolina.
Poncho’s foster mom had a lot of wonderful things to share about him: “Poncho is fondly known as Flash the Wonder Dog at his foster home. Why? Because his foster dad says he moves with the ease and speed of a pine tree blowing in a gentle breeze. He is a very laid back boy that truly takes his time with whatever he is doing. He enjoys long, leisurely walks on the leash while making sure that he smells every scent along the way. He is just as happy to stroll around in the yard smelling where his foster siblings and squirrels have been. Occasionally, he will catch the most fabulous scent and he releases the most beautiful, melodious song. Most of the time he is very quiet and just enjoys spending time with his foster siblings (large and small, beagle and non-beagle).
“Poncho is a loving boy who enjoys a belly rub and a good wiggle on his back while stretched out on the bed. Rarely does he get on the furniture (maybe because his legs are so short). He usually stretches out on a dog bed with his foster brothers and sisters nearby. He seems to enjoy being part of a pack and follows them wherever they go. It did take a couple days for him to settle in and realize that these new dogs and humans were really okay and he could relax and be part of a family.
“He is crate trained, leash trained, and housebroken. This mellow fellow is a trusting soul and bonds with people quickly. He will always bring a smile to your face with his short, waddling body. Poncho is ready for his forever family.”
