Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like you to meet a very special little girl.
This is Penny. She is a two and a half year old Boxer/ Pit bull mix (Her personality favors the boxer part of her). Penny came to us ten months ago, she had been sitting in a shelter for six months. Luckily the shelter was a no-kill shelter but you see, Penny is special, she has a heart condition, and because of that, the shelter could not spay her, so she was going to live her life out in the kennel. We just couldn't bare to see this sweet girl live like that. So we pulled her from the shelter and got her the proper care she needs. In the 10 months that she has been with us, her heart condition has improved so much that for the first time in her almost 3 years on earth, Penny is able to be a dog. She goes for long walks every day, can play with her foster siblings and live the life that she was always meant to live. Her heart made such vast improvement that we were able to get her spayed. Penny is improving every day and we believe now, after a long 16 month wait, She is ready to find her forever home.
Penny is good with dogs, kids and cats. She is house broken and crate trained. In all, she is a very laid back dog.
Penny has no restrictions, she can live her life as a normal, happy and healthy dog. She still takes a medicine for her heart (it comes to $20 for 3 months of pills) but with the improvement of her heart, that may not be a permanent thing. Penny will require a annual ultrasound and EKG to make sure that her heart is still functioning properly, but that is the only thing "different" about her care.
Some would call her special needs. We just call her special. This girl is so deserving of a forever home and we know the perfect fit is out there.
