My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have an ebony mosaic male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. He came to NWI a bit ago, and we estimate he was born 7/15/2015. This makes him right around 4 months old, and now is a great time for him to go to his new home and bond with his new family.

This male’s color is called ebony mosaic. The ebony gene affects his color by making his grey patches darker and more pronounced. You can see that his head is a darker grey, and the base of his tail is almost black. He’s got a lot of grey shading on his body, and a few black spots here and there. We just love his coloring!

This boy can be talkative. We think it’s adorable. When you go to pick him up, sometimes he will talk at you and let you know what he’s thinking. When you are holding him, sometimes he will talk. Sometimes all you need to do is look at him and he will talk. We think he just likes to hear himself talk! Hilarious boy. He does well with being held and petted, and sits nicely in your arms when you’re petting him. In his cage, he’s a bit more energetic and curious. Always looking around, always at the front of the cage checking out what’s going on around him. He has hopped out of his cage once or twice when we’ve opened the door and turned away for a second, so he will keep you on your toes! He would probably really enjoy playtime when he is old enough (6+ months). He does not bite.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if he gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether he might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

This ebony mosaic male would normally be $175, but due to our Fall Fiesta sale, his adoption fee is now discounted to $150. Must be picked up or have deposit put down by Nov. 30.
