Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"She would never say where she came from. Yesterday don't matter if it's gone. While the sun is bright. Or in the darkest night. No one knows, she comes and goes. Goodbye Ruby Tuesday. Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day. Still I'm gonna miss you."
Ruby came to POA as a terrified stray. As in the song, Ruby has never told us where she came from or what happened to her before she came to POA. We can guess that not all of it was good, since she came in pregnant, afraid to be touched, and most comfortable hiding out of sight. Ruby was a good mom to her kittens, who were all adopted. Without her kittens, Ruby seems lost. Even after several months with POA, Ruby still hides a lot of the time. But when she comes out of hiding and curls up in one of the cat trees, Ruby LOVES to be petted. She will arch her neck so that you can scratch that perfect spot under her chin and will quietly purr. And Ruby has learned to play, batting at a string toy from her safe spot under a chair. Ruby is a work in progress. But give her a chance and Ruby's big hopeful eyes will steal your heart. Ruby will need a quiet home with a person who will keep working with her, who will be patient (and not take it personally) if Ruby runs away to hide, and who understands that Ruby does want affection, she is just afraid of being hurt again. If you think you might be able to make a shy cat feel safe forever, please come in and ask for Ruby.
