Shadow is a sweet, shy boy with a sad story. He was dumped as a kitten in a Walmart parking lot; it is unknown how long he had to try to live on his own, but finally someone trapped him. The trauma of abandonment, along with whatever type of an ordeal he endured, has made him an extremely shy kitty. Due to his initial fear of people, the shelter initially labeled him as suitable only for a barn cat situation; they tipped his ear when they neutered him and placed him on a wait list for an outdoor only home.

One of our volunteers happened to see a picture of him and went to visit him. Although she was unable to handle him, she decided to take a risk and see if he could be socialized. The process has been slow: at first when humans went to touch him, he hissed, but he never scratched or bit. When he is picked up, he loves to be petted and starts purring immediately. The tough part is getting him to let a person pick him up. He is still a work in progress but he's going to be a fabulous cat when he finally turns completely around.

Shadow loves other cats. Indeed, that is where he got his name because he picks a "father kitty" and shadows that cat all over. He really wants to play and have another cat buddy.

If you are looking for a beautiful companion for your cat, this is your boy. He will take some time to warm up to you, but he will be a great playmate and cuddle kitty for your other cat.
