Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Ashby. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and calm that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized.
Ashby is such a sweet and endearing spirit who cuddles against you for love and security - such a special boy. He was immediately brought to be vetted and then to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin his education. Ashby is just 14 weeks old and weighs 4 lbs (expected to be approximately 10 lbs when full-grown.) He is calm and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. Ashby is very cute and so silly. His foster has said they haven't turned on the TV since Ashby came to their house...he's so entertaining. He is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Ashby continues this regiment of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...he will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion.
Ashby is a gorgeous Cairn Terrier mix puppy. We've called his second breed a Wheaten Terrier only because he looks just like a little Wheaten puppy...he's actually far too small to represent that breed. Ashby has the cutest antics ever with a shining coat that speaks of good health. His calm yet silly demeanor is just who he is..Ashby just appears to be more entertaining than your average puppy. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, Ashby will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly puppy.
We also feel it's very important that Ashby is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with one day walking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Ashby can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere.
We can't determine at this point if Ashby is a shedder although it appears he is not. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy and silky-soft. We can't recommend Ashby with this limited information to an individual with serious allergy concerns.
Ashby will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 12/22/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
