Tony is one of those guys that got caught in an overcrowded and dreary high-kill shelter through no fault of his own. With such a large population, it's so difficult for any particular dog to stand out and get the acknowledgement for a great temperament and therefore get spared from euthanasia. Being so very handsome with a shining black and white coat and an engaging personality that is so sweet...Tony was rescued and brought to a foster home.
As you might imagine...Tony must have been so special. He was recognized for the exceptional dog he is and efforts were put forth to insure his safety and ultimate adoption. Tony would be a dream come true dog for anyone who enjoys the engaging personality of the Schauzer combined with the very intelligent and playful personality of the Terrier.
Tony's foster mom had the following to say about this gorgeous guy: Tony is a calm yet playful guy who can be initially frightened and therefore shy. If you give him a few minutes of time and space, he's nothing but a lovebug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's great in the house and has been very trustworthy . Tony is absolutely great with me, my husband, our 3 kids (from 14 - 18 years old) and our 2 gentle dogs. Tony is just about the most sweet and loving dog I've fostered...he really wants to do right! His lucky new family is getting a gem!
Farfel's Rescue was contacted to help find this wonderful guy the greatest home possible..he deserves the love and respect of a forever family. Tony is an exceptional doll baby (words of his foster mom) that is 9 - 12 months old and 22 lbs. He's such a great age...we love watching him learn about the world. He's now old enough to be beyond the puppyish behavior that can be so challenging yet young enough to still be a blank slate completely open to learning new skills. Also, at 22 lbs..Tony is the perfect size to walk (or hike) the Colorado mountains or fit perfectly on his favorite person's lap.
We envision this very loving pup either in an adult household who choose to spend lots of time with a fuzzy best friend. Or Tony would be overjoyed with the company of gentle older kids and dogs. He would be so excited with the playtime and then at day's end, would be the greatest snuggler ever.
Tony is a non-shedding guy who will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat (with the most beautiful shining streaks of white on charcoal black) healthy and cottony-soft. It's very difficult to see Tony's true beauty in his sad shelter photo. We're hoping for a new photo that shows Tony's gorgeous face with his dark and very expressive eyes.
