Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Smokey Girl. 4 year old female Sealpoint Ragdoll
Smokey Girl has certainly come out of her shell in the short time she has been in foster care. She is now the Princess of the house. Since the shelter named her, we think a new name would be in order. A great name for her would be Scheherazade, the legendary queen and story teller of One Thousand and One Nights Tales. In that story, the queen had a new story to tell every night. And that is what our pretty girl does. Each night before bed she tells the beginning of her story; in the morning before breakfast she will finish the story. Once she is done telling about her day, she settles down to survey her domain from the top of the bed pillows which she perceives to be her royal throne. During most of the day she maintains a quiet demeanor almost as if making us wait for the evening story telling session. She is currently her foster mom's favorite and sleeps each night either on her foster mom's side or beside her head. She is also willing to settle further down on the bed if requested.
Scheherazade is also practicing for a career in computer programming. We don't think she is serious about an actual career; more like she's wanting to support her foster mom in the writing of important biographies for cats, editing photos, or writing legal papers. She particularly likes to see to the editing of legal papers.
Although Scheherazade was a little traumatized by her brief stay in a shelter, she has rebounded quickly. She may have also run stray for awhile before being dropped at the shelter because she was fairly thin when she got to foster care. Despite that, she never got sick like some cats do; she appears to be the picture of good health and strong immune system. Her coat is becoming very full now that she has a healthy diet.
Our beautiful Queen is quite the looker; the pictures are fair, but don't capture the richness of her coat and eyes, nor do they show the depth of her soul that you connect with when you meet her. Because of where she stays in the house, we are having a hard time getting lighting that is sufficient to show her at her best. She comes equipped with the standard rich blue eyes of the Ragdoll and she has such rich points that they look almost black; like rich dark chocolate mocha. Her coat is a lighter hue of brown; soft and full. She will need fairly regular combing.
Scheherazade needs to be an only cat. Why would you need another one when you have her? She will provide you with all of the joy and companionship you would ever need from a cat and she will not get lonely when you are gone during the day. Rather, she will nap and prepare for long conversations and evenings by the hearth when you get home. She also dislikes dogs. Even after living in a home with a dog for weeks, she still shies away when she sees the big gentle old boy. A young dog or any very active dog, would probably not work for her. Likewise, we believe she would not do well with younger children.
