My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well, hello there!! My name is Boris and I’ve been told that I am quite the hunk when it comes to my assumed beagle/basset mix!! I am around 45 pounds of love! Charisma and charm are included in my easygoing loveable personality. Life goes way too fast for most people, but I make sure I take time to stop and smell the roses and anything else that’s on the ground! I enjoy the big backyard at my foster home and I love my walks (sometimes a couple miles!) with my foster fur-brothers and fur-sister, where I can explore more ground with my nose! Once in a while, foster mom calls me stubborn because I put on my “brakes” to sniff longer than the rest of them want to wait! I wear a harness, so foster mom gives me some good tugs and distracts me with positive encouragement and I usually respond, so that we can continue our walk. It’d be nice to have a fenced in yard, but if you are strong enough to pull me when I am “stubbornly” sniffing on my leash, that’d work too!!! About once a day, I seem to find a really wonderful scent and give off some super low beautiful bays in my excitement!

I get along really well with any dog that I’ve met, and this crazy beagle that lives here has even gotten me to rough house and play in the backyard. The only time that I have sounded mean is when he has been possessive over the food cupboard that I was sniffing or a piece of recycling that definitely needed licking out!! I do know how to stand up for myself, though I am not dominant by any means! The four of us all eat our meals in the kitchen without incident! Foster mom puts me in a crate if no one is going to be home, so that there aren’t any arguments while she’s gone, just to be safe! A few good treats and a nice blanket keep me happy while she’s gone.

I have met children who have visited, and even stayed at my foster home over the holidays and the increased activity hasn’t seemed to faze me one bit. I just mosey around as usual and enjoy life and the extra pets and cuddles from company! I don’t jump and I haven’t even tried to get on furniture! I do love big dog pillows or beds here at my foster home. I’ve been told that I sometimes snore!

I go out and do my “business” with the other dogs, and have only had one accident in two weeks in the house. I am not much of a toy player, but sometimes I’ll chew on a toy like a pacifier, though I never destroy it! I have also batted around a ball with interest for a short time!

If you’re looking for a pretty happy go lucky, easygoing boy, with long soft ears, floppy lips and who loves to be loved on, I am just your guy! It’s been great having a foster home over the holidays, but I am ready to settle into my real forever home!!
