My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like young energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm puppy breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they're homeless in rural Texas. A kind rescuer temporarily took Sierra in to prevent her from the horrors of a high-kill shelter...and then realized that her landlord wasn't on board. Off Sierra went again to what this rescuer thought was the only possibility in this rural area...the shelter. Our rescuer, recognizing the wonderful personality and very sweet temperament of the puppy that had just been relinquished, contacted Farfel's Rescue. Farfel's was told about the great personality and over- the- top cuteness of this special puppy and made the decision to help Sierra find her first- ever forever family. Sierra absolutely deserves a great home and loving guardian just as much as any other sweet puppy with a great temperament.

Sierra, at just about 14 weeks old and 6 lbs (anticipated to be about 25 lbs when full grown), was facing the possible end of her life just as it was beginning. ...she was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Australian Cattle Dog/Beagle mix (an up and coming designer breed that's loved for their beauty, intelligence and engaging personalities) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Sierra is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of both her breeds. She's also bright and very loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..puppy energy may call).

Sierra clearly has no memory of her scary early life. Since Sierra is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Skyler will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world. Puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement group obedience classes will teach Sierra the skills to be a great adult dog. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Sierra finding her forever home with active retirees or a family (with gentle kids) who have lots of energy to train and enjoy a young dog. Sierra is known to do very well with children (but has never been formally temperament tested) and other playful yet gentle dogs are very fun for Sierra.

Skyler is up to date on her vetting, but has yet to be spayed. We're hoping that she will be fixed in Texas, however a puppy like Sierra is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for her to be spayed and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Sierra will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/22/16. If interested in this beautiful and very sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
