My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Clair and I am a very sweet female beagle that was found as a stray and rescued from a shelter in the Carolinas. I am about 3 years old and weigh approx. 25 lbs. I am a shy and low energy girl that will need to be adopted into a home with another dog. I lived in a foster home for 3 weeks before coming to Penny Angels and this is what my foster mom learned about me: “Clair was very shy during her first week with me, but she did not show any signs of aggression. She was also afraid of loud noises and quick movements. It took about a week or two for her to trust me, and then she bonded very strongly and became delightful; she turned circles when she was excited and howled and whined when I came in the door. She followed me around the house and slept wherever I was working or relaxing. She loved to be near people so she was always on the couch or on the bed. She slept very well at night and did not wake up until I did. She even loved to sleep right by my face, though it took time for her to work her way onto the bed and up to the pillow.

“Clair loved my dog and got along great with our family dogs at the lake. She is also good with children & cats! She liked being out in the yard but would not stay out too long by herself, though she loved to do "zoomies" in the yard and chase my dog. She just starting playing with stuffed toys before she left and would sometimes take her BIG treats (big bones) and bury them in the yard. I think she would enjoy having another small dog to play with.

“Clair LOVED to walk and got very excited when she saw her leash. See did not pull on the leash and enjoyed getting outside her yard. She learned quickly how to use the dog door at my house (and will also be using one with Penny Angels). It might not take as long for her to adjust to a new home as she did here. I hope you will come to love her just as much as we all did!”
