My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MIU
Born April 2014, White, Odd-Eyed Persian
Special Adoption Fee of $250

COURTESY POST: Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Oh, how I love my volunteer work. My heart did this flip as soon as I laid eyes on this stunningly beautiful, white fluffy kitty. And I get to assist in finding her a purrfect forever home...what great joy!
This little princess deserves only the best. Since she is such a special treasure and her caretaker is very concerned that we will find her a great, loving home, we will only adopt her to someone who is very familiar with Persians, who doesn’t have dogs or other cats (that includes other Persian kitties) or small children, and has a very stable home situation.

So you are asking yourself, why does this lovely girl need to find a new home? Good question and here is the answer. The original owner had to move to England, and they were looking for a family for Miu. So her loving caretaker had her husband fly all the way to Texas to pick up this treasure so they could have a companion kitty for their handicapped, rescued Persian boy. This little handicap kitty only has 3 paws without claws (when he was rescued, he was in this condition already). Their previous companion kitty passed away from old age, and their hope was that Miu would also be a calm and easy-going companion who would just gently interact with the little fella. However, Miu is still very young and very playful, so in her little kitty mind she feels the need to pounce on and dominate the poor little guy. Not so! She scares him and because of his handicap, he cannot defend himself. Since he was the first in the home and his mom is very devoted to him, she has come to the decision to let us help find a great forever home for Miu, the odd-eyed Persian beauty.

They already tried to see if Miu would be good with other felines (yes, they did the careful and slow introduction), but it turns out that this little Princess wants to be the reigning Queen in the home and does not care to share her humans with any other felines. And who in the world can blame her? She is so precious that she deserves to be the One and Only.

The way the caretaker figured out that Miu definitely needs to be an only kitty is because every time Miu is around other kitties, she shows her displeasure by urinating near her litterbox, not inside it. It is amazing how many times we hear this about some kitties, and once we find them a home where they are allowed to be an only pet, this particular issue gets resolved. Miu had full blood work and urinalysis at her vet visit in August 2015. She has no crystals, nor any kidney or bladder abnormality. The vet established that her behavior of urinating nearby the litterbox is a psychological, rather than a physical issue. She urinates inappropriately only when she is confined in a room alone (which is currently necessary so she doesn’t play too rough with the little handicapped Persian boy). Thankfully she always uses her litterbox for pooping purposes. Yes, not one of those topics we care to talk about in great detail, but in the interest of full disclosure, we do want to make Miu’s new parent aware of it.

Miu will require the standard care that is so important for the Persian breed: she needs to be combed or brushed daily. She has fine cotton like fur that gets matted quickly and she should have her tummy shaved twice a year. She likes to be brushed or combed for a few minutes daily, and with some dry food treats, she will sit down and purr while being combed. Her original owner was able to shampoo her every month, but that was because Miu was super bonded with her. Her caretaker only had her for 6 months and hasn’t tried shampooing her. We will leave that to her new parent to figure it out over time.

She does not like to be held too long, but she certainly likes to have her chin and ears gently scratched. She likes to stay near her human(s) and be in the same space. With time, and once she has really bonded with her new human(s), we expect she might even become a little lap cat, but even if that is not the case, she will still be exquisite to look at and wonderful to have around.
Miu really loves to watch birds and have outside views through screened windows. She also loves to run, chasing a string or small paper ball. Miu lets you know her expression with different vocal tones. She is a happy, curious, smart kitty.

She is allergic to surgical sutures (which was discovered when she was spayed) and possibly to certain foods. In her caretaker's house, part of her skin became greasy, possibly due to food/environmental allergy. She never had this in the original owner's house. It does not seem to bother her. It is not itchy. Miu is not scratching nor licking. So with the vet's help, the caretaker is trying to figure out what Miu is allergic to. She needs to be fed a high quality, grain-free diet.
Miu is up to date on vaccinations and is healthy according to her blood and urine tests. FeLV, FIV and PKD are all negative.

Please note that Miu is residing with her caretaker in San Diego (Southern California) while being placed in her new home. She is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home. Special Adoption Fee of $250.
