Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We're so glad that Joey (one of the sweetest dogs of all time!) was able to stay safe as he wandered through the streets of Arkansas as a stray. His safety became questionable when he was picked up and slated for euthanasia in an extremely overcrowded shelter. There was no way that Farfel's could let that happen to this incredibly cute Poodle with the great temperament! Arrangements were quickly made...and Joey left the shelter just in the nick of time.
This truly beautiful guy (in dire need of some serious love and TLC... a sudsy bath and a grooming will do wonders for this special guy) is a very brave 18 - 24 month old Poodle/Maltese who has dreams of a home, great nutrition and lots of love & belly rubs!
We found...to our delight...that Joey is great with older kids (untested with very young children) and other dogs. He also enjoys his time with adults...especially if it's about snuggling or leisurely walks with his favorite people. Since Joey has been deprived of human nurturing for at least a part of his life, he needs a bit of assurance that he's loved in a forever sort of way. Initially, Joey seemed to be a bit unsure... but we notice that he gains confidence every day that he interacts with well-meaning and kind humans. We envision Joey in a home with a canine sibling and guardians that choose to spend lots of time having fun with their dogs.
Joey would be ecstatic to spend this quality time and would definitely form a fast and forever bond with his family. He wants to please like none other...it almost seems like he's gathered the wisdom that guides him toward great behavior and very positive interaction with everyone he encounters. No stress in taking Joey to social situations...he gets along so well with everyone that he's a pleasure to be with! A loving family that has the time and desire to form a close relationship with a pup that truly deserves it is our goal for our exceptional Joey.
Joey is a non-shedding, hypoallergenic (for most) guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. We'll update with a photo that does this striking dog justice...he's truly beautiful both inside and out!
