My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Houston! Guess what! I am the 1000th dachshund that DREAM has saved since they got started in 2004! I think that's REALLY special.
SO, a little about me. I'm 5 years old and weigh in at about 10 pounds. I love, and I mean LOVELOVELOVE treats. In my old life, I had a slipped disc. DREAM had me checked out at their vet, and they said I've healed really well. Because of that, I'd do best in a home with no stairs, and like all dachshunds, I should not be allowed to jump off the sofa etc. My heart is healthy and there are no heartworms living in there, plus all of my shots have been done (ouch) and I've had the snippety snip (ouch, but YAY!)
When I first get to know a new person, I'm a little reserved, but I warm up with some sweet words and soft talk. Snuggling and burrowing are two of my favorite things to do, and I'm an active little guy. I enjoy a walk as often as you'd like to go.

If you are interested in adopting Houston, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Houston 's adoption fee is $400 All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Houston will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
