Basil's Story...

Meet Basil!  He is about 4 years old, a Maltese mix and is about 9 lbs.  He prefers to be carried over being walked, loves toys and to cuddle. Basil will require a fenced yard. He is learning about the leash, crate and potty training and doing well.   Basil will do best in a quieter adult only home.

Basil has been neutered, UTD on vaccines, heartworm tested, and micro chipped in preparation for adoption.   His adoption donation is $200. The first step to adopting or fostering for Guardians of the Green Mile is to complete our Adoption/Foster application.  Click on this link to access the form  http://www.jotform.us/Gotgm/Adoption_Application

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Basil, a Portage Maltese/Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier for sale in Portage, or seeking a Maltese/Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Portage.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portage already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portage breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier breeders who help with Maltese/Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portage paves the way for another one to be saved.
