My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Layla is a very special 6 year old Yorkie who is a true survivor. A couple months ago, we got a call late at night from someone whose friend's dog needed emergency attention. She had closed Layla in a closet while babysitting her grandkids, and supposedly a toolbox fell on her head and injured her severely. She suffered a brain injury and couldn't walk or eat on her own and was drooling and almost unresponsive. The owner didn't bring her to a vet and instead placed her in a box and wasn't even sure if she was dead or alive. The friend wouldn't give us the owners address or info for fear of us filing cruelty charges, and two of our amazing fearless volunteers met him at 10pm on a street corner in a scary neighborhood to save her and rushed her to our vet. We weren't sure what her prognosis would be but slowly she improved with rest and medication as her brain healed. She has been recovering in an amazing foster home for the past few months and happily has no further neurological signs anymore and is ready to find a forever home. She is a very high energy spunky girl who walks 3 miles a day with her foster mom and would keep going! She bonds very closely and will be your constant shadow. We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
