My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello!  My name is Athena (yes, I am named after the Greek Goddess-because I’m perfect).  I am around 2 years old, and I weigh about 50 pounds.  Yes, I am a Rottweiler, but I still have my tail.  I like to play in the play yard at the rescue, but if you let me, I’d rater lay in your lap (what do you mean I’m not a lap dog?)  My human friends at the rescue tell me I am very sweet, and I walk very well on a leash.  I am also very gentle, especially for being so young.  Since I am young though, I still have some things to learn, but I listen well and I am very treat motivated.

I haven’t had a lot of experience in new environments so please have patience with me while I adapt, but I am very eager to please those I love.  Cuddling on blankets and chewing on bones are some of my favorite past times, but I do enjoy a good walk where I can look around at all the things in the neighborhood.

Applicants must have prior Rottweiler (or similar breed) experience. An approved adoption application is required. The $185 adoption fee (payable by cash only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; and heartworm testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.
