My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nora is an approximately 3 yr old, spayed, 23 pound female beagle that was rescued from South Carolina. She is currently in a foster home down South and will be coming to Penny Angels in the near future.

Here is Nora’s story as told by her foster mom:

“A local animal control officer was on patrol when he saw a car strike a small dog. He immediately stopped and took her to a local veterinary clinic. The veterinarian determined that Nora had a broken pelvis. Nora was made as comfortable as possible while the word was put out for her owner to come forth. She waited at the vet’s office for a week and no one came. Her stray hold was up. She could not stay at the vet any longer. She would have to go back to the shelter, and the odds weren’t good for a dog with an injury like that in an over-crowded shelter. The animal control officer made a last ditch effort to save Nora’s life yet again. He picked up the phone and called Penny Angels Beagle Rescue. Nora was welcomed into Penny Angels and has been in a foster home in South Carolina since she left the vet.

“Nora is one of the happiest, sweetest, funniest pups ever. Her tail never stops wagging. She always has a million kisses available. She LOVES to play. Her favorite toy (before it met its destruction in a game of tug-of-war) was a Dora the Explorer doll. Nora and Dora – they were quite a pair. She loves all of her foster brothers and sisters (large and small, beagle and non-beagle). She loves people and makes friends everywhere she goes. She even managed to wrangle a compliment out of a non-beagle person one day. Nora is quite the curious little girl and is always looking for something to play with. She has a thing about helping with the laundry. I fold and she unfolds! She has also been known to steal a few pieces out of the laundry basket and hide them in her bed.

“Nora is house-trained, but she does know how to use a training pad if she can’t get outside. She is great on a leash but, like all beagles, she is led by her nose! Therefore, I think it is extremely important that she has a fenced-in yard. Even in the yard, you can see her catching a scent and running all the way up to the fence. She would love another dog to run and play with, too. She likes to be in the middle of the action at playtime.

“This little girl LOVES to snuggle. At night (after she gives you a million kisses), she will curl up beside you and stay there the rest of the night. She also naps frequently on the dog beds but she does NOT like to be crated – even if you are in the same room. She can be quite vocal. She also likes to talk at meal time. She will prance around and talk to you until her food bowl is in front of her.

“Nora still has a bit of a limp from her injury, but it doesn’t slow her down while she is playing and running in the yard. She can stand on her back legs, but as of yet, she has not been able to jump on the bed or the sofa (that could change at any time as she continues to heal). 

“To whomever adopts this little girl, please know that your life will be full of joy, love and laughter. She is all that and so much more. We wish her the best in her new life. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.”
