Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our exceptional Kansas rescuer saved the life of this adorable Cavalier King Charles/Spaniel mix in hopes of him finding a new and wonderful life in Colorado. Ryder is 18 - 24 months old and just about 12 pounds of cotton-coated fluffiness.
Ryder is such a devoted and smart little guy..He is seeking his first-ever forever family to love him and be pleased with his behavior that is growing better each day. A more relaxed (the shelter is very scary!) and lovable and cuddly Ryder has emerged since he's been in his foster home. He has made progress each and every day and is blossoming into a well-adjusted guy who is open to new relationships and adventures. It also makes a difference that his energy...and emotional needs..are being met.
Ryder loves walks and exploring (won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days exploring Colorado walkways?) and playtime that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make Ryder feel so good about himself and channels his puppy-like curiosity in a positive direction. He's such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Ryder would also enjoy another dog to play and have fun with...and then fall fast asleep side by side.
Every day when his foster mom comes home...she's greeted by an ecstatic Ryder. He's so filled with love and joy...and nothing but good intentions. We'd like to see Ryder in a home with loving and devoted retirees or a family with older, dog-loving children (after all, Ryder weighs only 10 - 12 lbs and should be handled gently) that spends lots of time at home...or enjoy taking their furry companion along. Ryder is a perfect take-along size guy...it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm. He enjoys the car and is learning his skills quickly to be trustworthy in all situations. He's also working on his general house skills to make him the well-behaved and engaging dog he has the ability to be.
It's been said that Ryder is the sweetest lap dog ever. His foster loves him and can't get enough of his sweet company. He would do so well in positive reinforcement Obedience group classes that will create additional bonding with his family on his path to learning behaviors that will make him a great.. and very well-behaved life-long companion.
Farfel's Rescue has requested that Ryder be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur (too many dogs and not enough vets in this rural area of Kansas). If Ryder arrives unfixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
Ryder will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/17/2016 . If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
