My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mercedes has been on a long journey to find a forever home, but she has had an army of angels to help her along the way. Mercedes was surrendered to a local animal shelter with two torn ACLs, which usually means the end of the road for most dogs. But a good Samaritan met Mercedes and after one visit she made it her mission to get Mercedes into a rescue group. A very kind donor agreed to sponsor the surgery on both legs, and a great foster was quickly lined-up to pull Mercedes from the shelter and get her in for immediate surgery. Her foster family cannot believe that anyone could have given this sweet girl up! She is such an easy dog, very calm, completely housetrained, and has no bad habits like jumping or chewing. She is crate trained and walks very well on a leash. She LOVES to snuggle, and has the softest fur! She has had to remain fairly constrained during her ACL recovery, but she loves toys and can usually be seen carrying one around with her. She is completely healed from her surgery and can run and play and go on long walks. Mercedes is in a home with dogs of all ages and sizes and she gets along with all of them. She is approximately 2.5 years old, and weighs 44 lbs. Mercedes would enjoy being in a home with another dog.

We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.
