Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Baby is a 5 year old German Shepherd mix that has been in foster care for over a year. It appears she was used as a baby factory in her early years. No telling how many puppies she has taken care of. Bedford Animal Control freed her from being chained to a tree with no other shelter, where she was trying to keep three puppies from starving. Baby was only fed once a day and the 2 month old puppies only had Baby’s milk to stay alive. Baby and her puppies were so undernourished that their back and rib bones were very visible. Baby’s collar had worn sores around her neck. Baby had not had many friendly visits from humans therefore she did not know how to accept a kind hand. When I first got Baby she would crawl into a corner in her kennel and not look at me. When I raised my hand to touch her she would lower her head and shut her eyes as if I was going to hit her. It took weeks for Baby to come to me and let me just pet and love on her. With lots of food and love, Baby’s puppies grew healthy and were adopted to their forever homes. It is Baby’s turn to find the right home. Baby does get along with other dogs but she would be much happier if she could be the only pet. She needs a fenced yard where she can feel secure and never be on a chain again. She does walk well on a leash. She comes when called and knows other commands. She is also house trained. Baby is currently kept outside in a kennel but would love to have her own indoor home. Baby has become somewhat of a watch dog that will get close to her owner and protect them if necessary. With her protective instinct, we do not recommend her around small children. If you live by yourself or think you can provide patience & the type of home Baby needs, please contact SAM5255840@aol.com about meeting her.
