We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding homes for pets in rural Oklahoma animal shelters through adoption events and fundraisers. We're focused on the Newcastle animal shelter since that's where we're based, but we also pull from other rural shelters when we can. We are a foster-based program, meaning that all of our dogs are in private foster homes NOT a facility. This gives them better socialization skills, which makes them a more well-adjusted pet. Also, the foster parent is able to learn about the pet’s personality, likes, and dislikes so that he can be better matched to the right forever home. We always need great foster families, so if you're interested in learning more on becoming one please visit our website to apply: www.shelterfriends.org

Our Adoption Process...
Everyone must first fill out our adoption application on the website. Once approved we'll happily arrange for you to meet the dog or dogs you're interested in! Our fees are $100 for puppies under a year old, and $75 for dogs over a year old and includes spay/neuter, all shots, deworming, heartworm prevention, flea/tick treatment and that your dog is healthy when you adopt him/her from us. Once you've decided on the dog you want to adopt from us we have an adoption agreement that you'll complete and receive a copy of for your records.
Thank You! Your message has been sent to Friends of the Shelter Foundation.
You'll receive a copy, too, at
to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
