My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Urgent, foster or forever home needed for these 2 special dogs by April 13th! Wallace (white) and Milky Way's (grey and white) adopter is sadly losing his home, and his 2 adopted dogs will be homeless again very soon. Wallace is a 5 year old American Bulldog mix originally rescued by Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge from a local pound. He had severe mange that had been untreated, and his whole body was covered in infection, painful sores and abscesses. It took time for Wally to heal physically, but this big goofy pup still went overlooked for 2 years before adoption.

Milky Way was rescued from the same local pound by Second Chance Pet Adoption League after having been used for breeding and dumped after her most recent litter. She was filthy and terrified, but quickly warmed up. Milky Way’s foster mom would bring her to work at RBARI during Wallace's stay to help socialize the dogs. Milky Way quickly became Wallace's favorite "girlfriend.” So, when Wallace's adopter decided to adopt a playmate for him a few months after he had settled in his new home, Milky Way was the perfect choice. They have been the best of friends and lived happily in their home for over 2 years, and now they face the possibility of not only losing their home and owner, but also each other.

We know how hard it is to find someone to open their home to one large breed dog, let alone 2, but we are hoping the right home will see this plea and help them. Wallace is still a big fun-loving playful puppy at heart. Milky Way is more mellow and well-mannered, and a bit shy at first. They would like to be your only pets in an adult household, and loved to run and play with each other. They are available separately as well as we realize it's difficult to find a place for them together. Wallace gets along with female dogs as long as they don't mind his rough play, and Milky Way had previously been fostered with multiple dogs and got along well with most. Wallace especially will be heartbroken returning to the shelter and we are hopeful that this can be avoided...

Wallace is adoptable through Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc., www.rbari.org, please email adoptlove@rbari.org. Milky Way is available through Second Chance Pet Adoption League www.secondchance.petfinder.com, email njwoof@cs.com.

Please contact us if you can offer any help for one or both of these dogs. They are located in Northern NJ. Thank you for sharing and spreading the word!!!

p>We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
