My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Melody is the pup you want to have around! Melody, at just about 18 - 24 months old and 13 lbs, is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving girl around. She's also very beautiful! It's clear that Melody wasn't given the nurturing that she needed when in Texas...now that she's having the time of her life and great nutrition in her Texas foster home, she's already starting to gain weight and is happy and healthy!

Melody's photo in no way does this beautiful girl justice..we're expecting new photos that will show her amazing..and scruffy coat and dark, very expressive eyes.

Melody appears to be either a non-shedder or light shedder. Although it's very difficult to know for sure until she loses her sad shelter coat and it is replaced by the stunning golden coat that speaks of her breed mix. Melody will require periodic baths and brushing to keep her hair healthy and shining.

Melody enjoys her time with her foster mom so much that she joins her just about everywhere - a true best friend! She's just generally so sweet and enjoys her people with very loving behavior. Melody is truly a little lap-dog extraordinaire and is very excited to spend her time with kind, dog-loving people. Melody also enjoys other dogs who are kind and gentle to play with.

This adorable pup exudes kindness and loyalty...and it's catching! Melody's tough early life has left some qualities of initial shyness on the personality of this sweet pup. She continues to blossom, however, and every day that she's out of the shelter and in a loving and kind environment, she gets sweeter and more well-adjusted.

Her bond to her people and her small size leads us to believe that Melody would be happy in either an active retiree's home (she would blossom with the time, attention and lap time that this type of family would offer). Or a family with dog-loving, very gentle children who would offer Melody the engagement (and belly rubs) that she's seeking.

Melody is so portable at just 13 lbs that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane or riding shotgun in the car, Melody is ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, she's crept into your lap and into your heart as well.

Say the word walk or hike...and Melody is all over it. Off she'll go in anticipation of fun and and an adventure. Melody has an amazing attitude for a little dog from a scary shelter... but it was her great temperament that saved this sweet pup's life.

Melody will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 3/25/16. If interested in this sweet, devoted and very funny best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
