Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hunter is a 5-6 yr. old beagle boy that was found as a stray in North Carolina. The local shelter was contacted and Hunter’s information was posted on Facebook, but his owners were never found. Now, he needs to find a new home. Hunter will be arriving at Penny Angels on Saturday, March 26, and will be available for adoption at that time. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date with his vaccinations. His foster mom has taken such great care of Hunter the past few weeks and wants nothing more than for PABR to find a loving forever home for him.
This is what Hunter’s foster mom wants you to know about him: “Hunter showed up at my friend's home on March 5th. He had no collar or ID and was stinky, intact, and hungry. He was hand shy at first, but soon learned that we only wanted to help him. He was introduced to a 50lb. Shepard mix and a 14lb. Chi mix the first night and they got along perfectly, as he is just a sweet, mellow boy. I gave him a nice bath the following morning, and surprisingly, he cooperated and actually seemed to enjoy it. He was reluctant to eat kibble, but finally decided he liked it. Within a couple of days, we were seeing a different dog; he was getting lots of rest, love, and good food, and it was starting to show. He even started approaching us for petting and was a little piggy at mealtime. He acts like he is 2-3 years old and is a small boy, only 22 lbs., even after eating good food for a couple of weeks.
“Hunter is shy until he gets to know you, but quickly comes around. As mentioned before, he likes to be petted and loved, but he also wants his alone time. He walks pretty well on a leash, but is a typical beagle with his nose to the ground. He has adapted very well to being an inside dog; the sofa is his favorite place to be now. He has been sleeping crated at night and does great until he hears you get up, and then he's ready to go. He wags his tail so hard when he is happy, his whole butt shakes! It is going to break my heart to see him go, but I'm trying to do what is best for him. All I want now is to find someone to love and care for him the rest of his sweet life.”
