Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter. Sally, at only 14 weeks old and about 9.4 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 40 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Sally just in time.
This sweet and engaging Labrador Retriever/Border Collie puppy is starting out with a great personality (so sweet and friendly) and great energy - a true pleasure to be around. The excellent results of Sally's
temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.
Sally is incredibly beautiful (this sad shelter photo in no way does her amazing silky coat and dark expressive eyes justice). Once she gets a sudsy bath and a brushing, Sally will be a great representative of a Lab/Border Collie puppy.
Sally is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a healthy, happy-go-lucky Lab puppy. She's also cuddly and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Sally is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Sally will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take some time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
Farfel's is open to Sally finding her forever home with very active, dog-loving retirees or a younger family with lots of energy and patience to train and enjoy a puppy. Sally is great with children as well. We would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that are very gentle and can participate in a kind and consistent training regimen.
Sally will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Texas, however a very young puppy like Sally is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Sally's microchip and spay at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.
Sally will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/1/16. If interested in this exceptional and very fun and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
