My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Farfel's Rescue employees and volunteers hi-fived each other when we got the news that Maggie the Cattle Dog/Border Collie puppy was safe! We had all been on edge waiting for the word that this adorable and sweet puppy was out of the shelter and truly safe. The part that's always so sad is that Maggie, at only 5 months old, was about to be euthanized simply because the high-kill shelter had run out of cages.

Maggie is a perfect puppy (so beautiful both outside and in her kind, cuddly personality) and at just about 5 months old and 9 lbs...Maggie is expected to weigh about 25 lbs when full-grown. We'll update with a new photo showing Maggie's true cuteness as soon as we receive it. Maggie deserves a great forever home that will give her a loving start in life with guidance to learn her skills. At this point, Maggie loves other dogs and every human she's ever encountered.

We would love Maggie's great temperament to be nurtured with loving yet clear guidelines through puppy socialization classes and positive reinforcement group Obedience classes. She responds so well to boundaries that are clear and lovingly communicated.

Maggie is a healthy and active young girl who would be head over heels with joy to hike a Colorado trail and spend fun, outdoor time with her favorite people and canines. Maggie will bring a smile to any face as she plays, runs and enjoys life with all her heart. Maggie is a blank slate at this point.... just waiting to be taught appropriate behavior to be the greatest adult dog ever! She has the capability to truly shine if given huge amounts of love and recognition for great behavior.

We are searching for a family that is motivated to spend the time necessary to housebreak and train this young pup with the amazing temperament. They will be rewarded a thousand times over with loyalty and devotion. We think Maggie would be very happy with either a very active retired couple (or individual) or a family that enjoys spending lots of quality time with their pup. She's learning about the car and very excited to learn the socialization skills that will enable her to accompany her family virtually everywhere they go.

Maggie will require periodic baths/brushing to keep her coat (with the amazing markings) shiny and healthy. A very nutritious diet (including a supplement of salmon oil) will give Maggie's coat the shine and cottony softness that speaks of a healthy puppy.

We've requested that Maggie be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to her young age and very few vets in this area of New Mexico. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Maggie's fixing and microchip after her arrival if our Denver vet is used.

Maggie will be arriving on transport in Denver on or about 4/3/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this cuddly, sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
