Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi Everyone,
My name is Darling Dakota and I'm about 10 months old and weigh 10 pounds (That makes me a double 10 and that's very lucky.) I'm all puppy and love to play with my doggy foster brothers and sister,-- as well as the stuffed toys we have in my foster home. (I like to throw them in the air, then catch and shake them.) I also have my special friend (it's a stuffed toy) that I like to carry around with me. Mom says it's my security blanket. (Silly Mom! It's not a blanket at all. It's my toy!)
From the very first day I arrived at Mom and Dad's, I've been housebroken. Boy, does that make everyone around here happy! I also mastered the doggy door in minutes, which shows how smart I am.
Dad says I'm great with the other dogs and like to play with all of them, one at a time or as many as I can. And do we have fun! We run around the yard and sometimes then run into the house. Mom says it's so much fun watching me 'cause it's obvious that I'm comfortable with my canine buddies.
That's not the case with the ones you call 'people.' Even though I'm very young, someone scared me when I was a mere pup. Learning to trust people is my challenge. And because I'm so darn cute and little everyone wants to pick me up to cuddle. That's not what I'm ready to do... yet. I watch my doggy foster brothers and sisters getting petted and loved - and I look like I'd like to join in but something holds me back. On the other hand, if we are all on the Big People's Bed then I'm happy to get my pets and rubs.
As you can tell, I'm a bit of a project, however. I'm smart and learning to trust a little more every day. My BFK Aunties think one morning I'm going to wake up and know that the world's a safe place and I can trust people. And I will reward them with this gigantic smile that lets them know I've 'arrived.'
If you are patient and have a loving heart, have another furkid or two, and want the reward of helping me achieve my potential, please let us know. Mom says there is not an aggressive bone in my body (which is a good thing!) and that I am a sweet and special boy just waiting for someone with the key to unlock the door.
In the meantime I'm playing hard, observing my brothers and sister and hoping to find my place in someone's heart.
Tail wags and toy tosses,
