My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweetie is a DSH lynx pt Siamese mix gal, born approximately 4/15/10. Sweetie's owner lived in an assisted living facility and had to move to a more skilled facility where she could not take Sweetie with her. So she agreed to allow me to help Sweetie.

Initially Sweetie was scared & shy, would not eat for days, so I kept her in my bedroom & allowed her all the time she needed to adjust. She hid under my bed, would come out at night, and during the day when I was at work. I would talk to her a lot, and put my hand out to her & she would sniff it. She would run & hid when I would come into the bedroom. She found all the good hiding places that all the foster cats seem to like. She has really good instincts & is very brave. She is very clean uses her litterbox, not a real big eater (she is very skinny) eats dry food Science Diet for hairballs. Also likes Fancy Feast wet food, which I give to her in the evening time. After about 4 months, she started to come to me & sniff my feet, so I would reach down & let her sniff my hands, then I would gently lift her just a little off the ground & put her back down. Then I just built on that.

She has really bonded with me. I can lift her up and hold her, she is a lap cat, likes to sit on the lap and over the left shoulder. She knows her name & will come when called. She has full run of my home, but is still scared to look out of the windows. I love to see her running around, now that she has the room to do so. She was in a small room all her life. She now knows how to play with the toys & loves the bird feathers on the long stick, she is pretty good at catching it too.

I Love her a lot. She is still very sweet & gentle, pretty low maintenance. She sometimes sleeps on my bed, up beside my shoulder/arms area. My name is Helen & I am her foster Mom. Thank you for reading Sweetie's Story.
