Duchess's Story...
Hi my name is Dutchess, I am an adult spayed female Akita who was dumped at a shelter in Texas by my uncaring owner when she moved away and did not take me. I am a good girl, I mind well in the home, and would love nothing more than to be your best friend and go for walks in the park. Oh did you know I love cats? Yes I am a cat lover which is a little rare for my breed. Will post pictures of me and my foster kitty soon. I am currently in the Dallas, Texas area where I am awaiting my transport to NJ. However if you are interested in me, please go to the website at:

www.bigeastakitarescue.net and fill out an online application for me...The Dutchess!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duchess, a Toms River Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in Toms River, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in Toms River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toms River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toms River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toms River paves the way for another one to be saved.
