My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brighton is a female, long haired, chocolate dapple dachshund. She is ~5-6 years old and weighs ~17 lbs. She's been on a diet since arriving in our group and could still stand to lose another 2-3 lbs...but that doesn't slow her down in the least. This girl is very spunky and loves attention from her foster family. She does have some color dilution alopecia on her back, but her case is mild. Her foster mom says "she has a smile and a wag for EVERYONE." This girl does not meet a stranger. She loves a lap and will sleep through the night in a doggy bed right next to her foster mom's big bed.

If you are interested in adopting Brighton, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml . Brighton 's adoption fee is $475. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Brighton will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
