My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dexter is currently being fostered in Connecticut. If you are interested in applying for Dexter, please click the link in the side bar to take you to our site. All application information is available along with all the other dogs coming to our event.

A little information about Dexter...
Hi! My name is Dexter and my foster mom says while she's not sure what I'm mixed with (chihuahua w/ ??), she tells me I'm adorable! I am a bundle of energy that loves to get attention from you and I don't take up much space at all as I'm only 12lbs and I'm only about 12mos old. After my initial excitement of being able to go for a walk, I do pretty good on a leash and afterwards I like to be held and told what a good boy I am. I keep my area and crate clean without any accidents, love my food and I take treats gently; I also ignore the cats around here. While I do get along with most of the dogs I've met, I can be dominant when playing with other dogs so it's important that we're all properly introduced. I would love to find a forever home where I would never find myself back in that scary place they call a shelter .

All final decisions are made by the rescues not Homeward Bound volunteers. If you are interested in this dog or any of our dogs please go to www.homewardboundadoptionevents.jimdo.com (copy and paste in browser window) and see all of the dogs coming and also fill out an application.

If you are a first time dog owner we my require a home visit prior to adoption.

If you rent or live in a condo we will require proof that you are able to have a dog. This could be a copy of the lease or condo agreement.

We request you bring all the residents in the household to the event along with any dog in your home for a meet and greet with our trainers.

Per the request of the rescues we may limit adoptions to only Connecticut homes due to the distance and support we give them. This again is strictly the rescues decision and hope you will honor that.

We also require a follow up visit with all families within a couple of months after the adoption.

If you have additional questions about our dogs feel free to contact us. Please understand that we are all volunteers and will try to get back to you as soon as possible. If it is close to our event we are very busy with pre-screening our applicants so please understand if we can't answer all your questions in a timely manner. Our goal is to make sure these dogs go to the best home possible.
