My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Melia was so fearful as she came into a very high-kill Texas shelter. After all, she's a sensitive and very kind girl...and through it all she seemed like an old soul taking it all in. She was never nasty or snippy..just initially fearful of new people who might hurt her. She soon found out otherwise and has spent parts of her shelter time on the laps of personnel...needless to say that she's a favorite.

It just isn't in her nature to be anything but sweet. Melia, at just 8 months old and 9 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 11 lbs when full-grown) represents the sad irresponsibility that is so present when pet guardians choose not to spay/neuter. These unwanted dogs deserve a great life every bit as much as any other living being.

Melia has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. While initially shy..she comes around quickly with those who are kind and respectful. She loves to snuggle and show her devotion in so many ways. Melia enjoys her relationships with gentle dogs as well...it seems that she derives confidence from being around these positive-energy pups.

Melia tries so hard to show that she's worthy of a permanent family. Her little tail wags hesitantly when she sees a possibility for a pat or any kind gesture. She would be overjoyed if she got loving attention and it would bring a light to those dark, expressive eyes!

Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional Schnauzer/Poodle mix..or Schnoodle (at least that's what the shelter vets tell us Melia is..all we know is that she's so adorable!). Melia is about to get her first grooming day..there won't be a more beautiful girl when she's provided with skin/hair care and great nutrition. Her silky silver hair will frame the kind glow in her eyes that speak of a gentle soul.

We're searching for a very kind family that wants to spend quality time with this adorable girl. Melia would learn from the gentle guidance and time put in by people who love her and she'll return that devotion a million times over. Farfel's feels that Melia would enjoy retirees or a family with older, dog-crazy children who will be gentle and loving toward the this sweet pup. A positive reinforcement group training class would also be great for bonding between Melia and her people. It's a new world for this sensitive puppy and she'll be so successful with the knowledge that she is loved and chosen to be a member of a very special family.

Melia appears to be a non-shedding dog and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to bring out the beauty and excellent health of her cottony-soft coat.

Melia will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/29/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and very loving companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
