Don't let the gray muzzle fool you, young Moxie is only about 3 years old! Moxie is a ~7 lb chi mix who is an outgoing, energetic, and playful girl. If you throw any toy, she will chase it. She quickly made friends with the 2 other dogs in her foster home and even keeps up with the 8 month puppy! Her foster home also has cats, and while she sometimes gets excited and wants to play with them, she usually leaves them alone. She was being passed up for a while at the Humane Society (most likely due to her coloring) so Fuzzy Pawz Rescue stepped in to foster and get to know her so she could find a perfect home.
Moxie would do best in a household with another playful dog to be best friends with and one that has PLENTY of toys. Give her a toy box and she will gladly take one toy out every now and then and entertain herself. She is crate trained and will sleep quietly through the night. She is also good for a cuddle during nap time. She is not crazy about kids – they stress her out so no kids under 15 please. And for reasons we can’t know Moxie is not a huge fan of men upon meeting them; it will take her time to bond with a man in her new home.
Moxie's past is a bit muddled and she's picked up some not-so-great habits. BUT! Her foster humans are working really hard to teach her how to walk pleasantly on a leash, listen to commands, and not be so possessive over her humans. She will need a home that can get through her stubbornness, and continue a very regimented and consistent message to Moxie, so she can learn how to be the best version of herself. She's come a long way already! Like we said, she is quite active and enjoys swimming (with her life jacket of course) and long walks in the foothills (she's good for a few miles a day!). This type of exercise will help her from behaving poorly due to pent up energy.
After her playtime and exercise Moxie enjoys a good nap next to you on the couch (or on your lap if you'll allow). She does love to snuggle and be close to her human. This balance of exercise and quiet time will be key to her continued success.
Moxie has taken well to her crate training and she is learning that it's quiet time in her crate. Usually with a treat she will hop right in.
Overall Moxie is a fun and easy going dog that would love to have a backyard to sprint around in and some doggie buddies to hang and play with. We feel she would do really well in almost any home.
