My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hero is an adorable, 3 yr. old, 22 lb. lemon beagle that was rescued by Penny Angels. He will be arriving in NJ via Carolina Babies Dog Transport on 5-28-16 and will be at Petsmart that day. Read more about Hero from his foster mom:

“Hero was surrendered by his owner (for unknown reasons) to a high-kill animal shelter in South Carolina. The happy little boy wagged his tail at everyone who walked by, but no one stopped to adopt him. Hero’s time was almost up when the rescue coordinator contacted Penny Angels. One look at his sweet face and Penny Angels said “YES, we will take him.” Hero immediately went to a foster home in South Carolina while he awaited transport to PABR.

“Hero is truly one of the best foster dogs ever. This little boy is quiet and loving and well-mannered. He loves his foster brothers and sisters (large and small; beagle and non-beagle) and plays with them all day and sleeps with them all night. Whenever they run outside to chase a squirrel, he runs with them, but he rarely barks. He loves to play with toys, too, with the other dogs (especially his 3 year old foster sister that also happens to be a beagle). He loves a good game of tug or chase with the dogs. He is learning to fetch a ball, but returning with it is still a work-in-process.

“Hero is almost completely housetrained. He really has not had many accidents but he has had a few (especially with all the rain we have had). He is learning to walk on a leash and responds very well to correction by a gentle tug and a voice command of “this way.” Hero has not been crate trained because he doesn’t bother anything in the house. He is allowed to move freely throughout the house. He will occasionally sneak off with one of his foster daddy’s shoes, but he drops it as soon as you tell him “no.”

“This little boy (which is his nickname – Little Boy) is an absolute love bug. He is always so happy to see you when you come in. His tail is always wagging, and he runs up to you and puts his paws on your legs so you can bend over and scratch his head and neck. He really enjoys being scratched under the ears. He is still a bit unsure about being held for long periods and will want to get down and go play after a short time. Occasionally he may fall asleep on you and then you fall in love and you can’t move until he wakes up because you want him to stay there forever.

“Hero will make a great family pet! He will steal your heart as he has stolen mine. He will bring joy and laughter to your life and you will wonder how you lived this long without a HERO! Wonder no longer because SUPER HERO is a super dog.”
