My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Polo!
Mr. Polo started life as a rescue puppy. Thrown out of the litter the first night of life, he was hand-raised by his human mom. Bottle fed every two hours, and cared for like a real baby. However, now that baby is 70lbs, and not made for a 2-bedroom apartment (and a mom who works 5 days a week 8-5 p.m.).

Doggy mom is an American Cattle dog, Dad we're not sure, but best guess is some boxer, shepherd, possibly pitbull mix. He is very friendly, with humans, and very smart.

He would be great for someone with a backyard, or who loves to run and wants a partner. He has energy galore! Love long walks on the beach? He's your man, he loves lake Michigan. Love runs on the trail? He's your man, you'll get more sticks as presents than you'll know what to do with.

Polo can walk pretty well on a leash but could do with some additional training to refine those skills. He roams free at home without issue (as long as there are still chew toys around, he is still a puppy). He has never met cats.

He is fine with children in the neighborhood, but his current family has not tried him in enclosed spaces with very small children/babies. He does not bite and has zero aggression, however he is energetic and strong and might be too much around very small children, small animals, or someone very petite.

Polo’s adoption fee is $100 and he is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
