My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Possum was rescued from a local kill shelter where he had been dropped off by the public as a "stray." It is highly likely that this "public" was his owners. People do not like to admit they are placing their personal pet in a shelter so they say it's a stray. Some shelters charge surrender fees and even euthanasia fees if they are full, and folks don't have to pay anything if they say the animal was found. There's no way to know, but he was homeless in a very full shelter with fifty kittens and more coming in every day. Kitten season is the absolute worst time for any cat to be in the shelter because space is limited, disease is high, and every day brings in more animals. With a finite amount of space, many very nice animals are euthanized more during kitten season (which is long in Texas because of the mild weather) than in the winter/colder months. Possum was doing his best to be noticed behind his cage door so his future foster mom opened it up and checked him out. The shelter volunteer had also mentioned that she had a "super sweet black and white cat" and it was obvious who she was referring to. She scooped him up and brought him home to be a part of FFAR's foster/adoption program. He is a great cat! Somewhat talkative, super loving and gets along with kids, cats and dogs. He loves to have his belly rubbed. Possum is now fully vetted and ready to find his forever home. All he needs is you!
