Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Avery and her siblings...she could see that their temperaments were so kind and sweet that she couldn't allow them to be euthanized.
Avery is the kind of very endearing puppy that will lie in your arms and give a periodic loving kiss. Her great personality was the key to her being noticed and therefore rescued. Avery was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested... and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Avery, at only 15 weeks old and 20.4 lbs. (expected by the vet to be approximately 45 lbs when full-grown) is so sweet and super smart.. it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom to watch Avery blossom.
Avery is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her..she's incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If Avery continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Avery will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion.
Avery is an adorable Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei mix puppy with a stunning fawn-colored coat that, with great nutrition and care, will speak of the beauty of this very loving puppy. Avery (and her siblings) were diagnosed with dermatitis caused by fleas, shelter dirt and stress. She has since been moved into a foster home and is beginning, with the introduction of premium foods and coconut oil, to grow the softest hair ever on her way to a beautiful puppy coat. A healthy home with clean conditions, lots of love and far less stress makes all the difference in dermatitis puppies growing a new and healthy coat.
Avery's calm and sweet demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be a bit more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If Avery is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of loving and committed family we're searching for for Avery. We also feel it's very important that Avery is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She will learn valuable socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement obedience training classes. This will enable Avery to accompany her family to all the places that lead to great adventures out in the community.
Avery will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/24/16. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
