My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Macy and Thumper, a bonded pair who were surrendered by their owners. Their sweet temperaments and friendly personalities made them easy choices to send to rescue. After testing negative for heartworm, they were loaded up on a rescue and headed north to Rover Rescue in Illinois. Macy and Thumper arrived to a home full of dogs of all sizes and ages and they both did wonderful with all of them! They easily joined in the pack like they had been with them forever.
Thumper is a beautiful long-haired Papillion / Chihuahua mix who is around the age of 4 years old. He very much favors the Papillion breed with his quick-learning nature. He is playful, affectionate, gentle, patient, and while he loves to play in the backyard, he loves to cuddle. He is very quiet and loves to sleep curved around Macy in a 'C' shape. He did great with a bossy little male dog - Thumper turned his head and made it quite clear that he has no intention of getting into an altercation with any dog. He came in with tell-tales signs of fleas and a tummy ache. Good food, a deworming, flea bath and preventative, and lots of love has cleaned him up really well! He has super soft white fur and melts into your hand for petting. He didn't always melt - the first few times his foster family went to pet him, he shyed away from their hands as if he was going to be hit. Now, he knows he's getting lots of love so he warms up faster than ever to people. Thumper is an easy-going guy who really only concerns himself with where Macy is. His foster home is not sure of their relationship but it is obvious that they have bonded and MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER.
Macy is a tiny little lady who is around the age of 8 years old. She was barely 4 lbs when she arrived at her foster home and her skin had the tell-tale sign of a severe flea infestation. She still has a few bald spots but thanks to a conditioning bath, flea treatment, a dewormer, and good dog food, Macy's coat has filled in and looks so different than when she first came to rescue. Macy is an active girl and loves to follow her people around the house and outside for yardwork. From afar, she looks like a tiny, miniature beagle with her tri-color markings and the spot of white at the tip of her happy tail. She continues to thrive and has the cutest prance to her that a person could see in a 4 lb. body. Macy is a fine example of a Chihuahua with her loving and loyal nature with people. Macy is very social and responds to kind guidance to learn the house rules.
Macy and Thumper live with 5 dog savvy children ages 3 to 16 years old. Due to Rover Rescue policy, dogs under 25 lbs cannot be adopted to families with small children unless they have previous little dog experience. Neither Macy nor Thumper would harm a child but it would be tempting for a small child to want to carry one of them (especially Macy) and cause injury to the dog. Macy and Thumper have even been tolerant with the other kids who have come to visit. While Macy cannot get enough of being around the busy household, Thumper will occasionally retreat to a quiet spot in the bedroom or a perch on the back of the couch until the energy level calms down in the home.
Macy and Thumper have been temperament tested by the foster mom in the home and she has found that neither had any issues with food or toys. They both crate together easily but have earned the privilege of being loose in the master bedroom while the foster family is gone. Thumper still likes to sleep in his crate on his own and Macy will join him. They are both up to date with vaccinations including rabies. Both Macy and Thumper have been microchipped. Thumper has been neutered and Macy has been spayed. The adoption fee for both of them is $300. .
If you are interested in adding this adorable pair to your home, please call their foster mom Mary at 630-585-7927 for a phone interview. She will have some questions for you as well as answer any questions you may have about this uniquely bonded loving pair.
