My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Schnauzer/Poodle mixes are always a favorite among the many groups of mixed breed dogs. We all seem to love their fun, outgoing and snuggly nature. Bonnie appears to be a perfect combo within the Schnauzer/Poodle breeds. Her beautiful coat (so cottony-soft and shining ) lights up her adorable face. Her dark eyes are so expressive that you understand the pain she's been through while seeing her optimism and love of life.

Bonnie is very special...she was found wandering sadly along the Tijuana streets and a wonderful Tijuana foster couldn't let her go..she brought her into her home to heal and to ready her for a forever home. At just about 3.5 years old and 35 lbs (the perfect size for hiking and playing in the Colorado mountains), Bonnie shines with an engaging and sweet disposition. She is an active girl whose tail wags in her joy and then likes to cuddle on the couch (particularly after a walk or hike). Bonnie was described by her foster as: very sweet, somewhat shy, calm yet can be very playful and active. She was very respectful with her rescuers as well as the other dogs in her foster home. Bonnie also enjoys gentle and respectful kids and would be an active participant in outdoor play in the yard or a walk to the park. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and would always enjoy hanging out in the sunshine or a sharing a walk on the awesome Colorado trails.

Somewhere along the line, we think that Bonnie was given love and respect..probably because she's so capable of returning warmth and kindness. Bonnie is great to take along anywhere there are groups of dog-loving people. She can be a bit shy initially but always warms up with sweetness and warm hugs. We feel that Bonnie would do well in any home that offered her love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this social and sensitive girl), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and positive reinforcement group training classes to make her the best dog she can possibly be.

Bonnie has an amazing non-shedding coat that will grow more beautiful and soft as cotton with great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement) and periodic grooming. This regimen will keep her hair healthy and matt-free.

Bonnie definitely has the idea about house-training but a new family should anticipate some teaching on this any time a dog is rehomed...they just don't know where the bathroom is. It's helpful if there's another dog in the home to show the way.

Bonnie is arriving on transport in Boulder on 6/26/16. If interested in this very sweet, loving and cuddly best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
