My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is NESTOR. I'm a senior beagle who is about 10 years old and 30lbs. I was found as a stray wandering along a lonely road. I must've had a home once, but nobody came for me at the shelter. Everyone felt so sad for me, and luckily Just Paws brought me to their rescue. I'm an easygoing fellow who's curious (as is befitting all beagles) and enjoys life.

When I arrived, it was discovered that I had heartworm and after several months of treatment in my lovely foster home I am ready for a new family! Now I may be an older fella, but you'll never find a more trustworthy and deserving dog. You want a snuggle buddy? I'm there. You want someone to walk with? I'm there. You wanna share snacks? You better believe I'll be there!

I love all kinds of dogs and really enjoy snoozing with my foster fur siblings and seeing what they're getting up to. I'm up to date with all my shots, neutered and housetrained. Some folks are afraid to adopt an older dog, because they're afraid of losing them too soon, but wouldn't you want my love for a shorter time than none at all? Anyway, I plan on doing lots of living for quite awhile yet, so don't be afraid to bring me home!

Here's what my foster family says about me:

"Nestor is a very sweet dog who needs to feel love and safe as it seems somewhere in his past he was neglected and mistreated. He loves other dogs and does not seem to be afraid when meeting a new dog as he is very calm. Nestor gets his security and confidence with the other dogs in our home, so the more dogs the happier he is. He is, however, nervous of new people and takes some time to get use to them. When visitors come to our home, he cautiously greets with the other dogs then retreats to his bed and he then decides if he is going to join or calmly stay in his bed. Nestor is housetrained but will have accidents in the house if you don't get him outside when he is ready. Nestor would be happy in a home with people who are home most of the time, along with another dog(s). Nestor usually follows his foster mom around (unless he is sound asleep) and prefers to stay close to her, but he does like to mingle with the dogs and his foster dad. Nestor loves his food and treats!! He is good on a leash but can only go for quiet short walks due to his age and breathing (and he is just as happy not to go but run around in the backyard with the other dogs). He has an inhaler which he needs twice per day but he gives you no problem to use it, especially knowing he gets a treat after! He has recovered from heartworm, and would need to be on prevention year round. Nestor is easy to fall in love with, especially those big brown eyes staring at you and those big floppy ears! We all love Nestor and hopefully he will eventually find his forever home where he will be loved and spoiled as he is in his foster home."

I need another dog in my home to live with as I'm used to living with others. I'd also like a house with a fenced in yard to wander around in. Please give an older fellow like me a chance at a happy ending, I really want to love you.
