My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How ya' all doing? My name is Jebediah Walker (as in a Treeing Walker Coonhound), but all my croonies just call me JEB. My foster mom thinks I am a good ol' boy. Good because no doubt about it, I am down right well behaved. Ol' really doesn't do me justice, but most of the time I act way beyond my 2 years. Boy because yep, I am a neutered male. I came from this awesome program called A.D.O.P.T. in Southern Indiana. A.D.O.P.T. stands for A Dog On Prison Turf. That's right, I was an inmate at a women's prison. When my sentence was reaching 15 months and there didn't seem to be any release in sight, Rover Rescue stepped in and got me out on parole. You see the locals just don't realize how awesome Coonhounds can be. Coonhounds are known to be gentle, patient, relaxed and oh, so loving in a home. I am definitely no exception to the rule. My foster family cannot say enough good things about all 69 pounds of me. I am very social with those walking on 2 legs and 4. I am in a foster home with older children, but my easy going personality would make me ideal for families of all ages. I am not jumpy or hyper like a lot of 2 year olds. My foster home has two dogs residing in it right now. One is a 6 month old puppy that I am very tolerant with and will help entertain. The other is a prima donna that thinks she is a princess and should be the only dog. I give her a lot of space and we do fine together. I was introduced to a lot of dogs at the prison and also kitties. I have a crate, but I really don't like it. I would much rather be with my people. My record of being accident free in the house and not destructive has earned me little kennel time. My family will put me in the crate when I am home alone only. I am playful and enjoy a good game of catch until I get a scent. Then it is game over. I will require a fenced yard due to my powerful sense of smell and the trouble it could get me in. My nose can also cause me to counter surf. Any goodies left unattended will find a way to my tummy. Otherwise, I am not a big voracious eater. I ride well in the car, walk well on a leash and take treats very nicely. I would love to sleep in your bed and cuddle with you. I snuggle in and never move, even when my foster mom gets hot and tries nudging me. I am a really nice dog and would make a great addition to your family. If you would like to find out more about me, JEB, please call my foster mom, Darla, at 630-406-9405. My adoption fee is $200. It includes my previous neuter, up-to-date vetting and microchip.
