My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Blu. I”m a 5 years young, yellow female lab. People tell me I”m “Blu-tiful”! I am working on my “girlish figure” by eating better and getting more exercise than my previous home. When I first came into rescue I weighed 90 lbs. I am on a very strict diet and exercise since I got here to shed the extra weight. I am still a little chubby but that is part of my charm. My foster mommy says that I could stand to lose 10-15 more lbs just to be at my ideal weight. I am ready for the challenge, bring it on!!! My foster mom says that I will need to be on a controlled diet and exercise so I keep losing weight.

I feel like I”m at summer camp at my foster home. I really enjoy water aerobics in the pool and hide and go seek! I get to search for field mice and critters in the bushes in their big yard. I really like chasing the lizards up the wall around the backyard! I am a real retriever because I point when I find something I want to hunt for. My nose is out, paw is up and tail is straight.

Did I say I love to go in and out of the pool to cool off and get exercise?

I enjoy lots of attention. I”d do well with a family that has someone around at home all day maybe who works from home or a stay at home member of the family. I do well sleeping in my crate at night but need to be around people during the day.

Other dogs around don”t bother me. When we walk, I don”t pay any attention to other dog friends. I haven”t been around cats so don’t know how I”d react. I did live with another dog at my old home but I”m on my own at my new foster home. I”ve not spent any time around little kids and I might knock them over when I get excited and my tail gets wagging. My foster family has teenagers and they give me lots of love and attention.

Taking walks are the best! I know where my leash is and go to it all the time hoping someone will take me out for a walk. I can be a bit strong on the leash but my foster family is working with me on that. I”m just so excited to be out exploring that I can”t wait to get to the next corner.

I have good manners. I”m good at basic commands such as sit, shake, potty and down. At the end of the day, I enjoy hanging with my foster family while they watch TV and play on their computers. I like to be included in everything. I enjoy rides in the car especially on side streets and the windows are down and I can stick my head out, let my ears feel the breeze, and sniff my way to our next destination. I am potty trained and know when to ask to go out.

I”ve been told I”m kind, sweet, soft and a very happy dog. I like to have fun and make people smile. I bring joy to everyone I meet. My favorite is when I lay on my back and people rub my belly, chest and under my chin. Ahhhhh,it feels so good!
