Whenever a purebred Schnauzer or Schnauzer mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that pups of this breed mix make such a great addition to a home. They're so smart and so much fun to be around.
Schnauzer are known to fit so well into a family...and make great companions for all age groups. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine.
Kaia is 18 - 24 months old (such a great age - young enough to be active and adventurous, yet old enough to understand her adult skills) and weighs 26 lbs. Never let it be said that 26 lbs is too large for a lap dog....once bonded, Kaia will gently warm your lap and express her love.
Kaia has inherited the superior intelligence of the Schnauzer breed along with the curiosity of the Poodle...she is therefore so excited for her family to teach her the wonders of her world. If Kaia is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please.
We'd like to place Kaia in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Kaia would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime. She will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes and to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute Schnauzer mix.
Kaia would love hiking the trails of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy running through the amazing Colorado mountains), window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Kaia will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return.
Kaia has the most beautiful, non-shedding silver coat. With periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition, she will develop the cottony-soft, shining hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat.
