Duchess & Kittens's Story...
"Duchess" is a beautiful 2-year old mother kitty who was brought to the HSOV on July 8, 2016 along with her four 5-week old kittens. Mother "Duchess" has a brown tabby coat, a long tail, and a pretty face with golden eyes and long white whiskers. She has a calm, quiet disposition and is a fantastic mother who dearly loves her babies. There are three boys in the family (Berlioz, O'Malley, and Toulouse) and one girl (Marie). The kittens have light brown tabby coats with the exception of O'Malley who has a dark brown tabby coat. O'Malley seems to be the kitten who is most attached to his momma :) All of the youngsters are happy, socialized, and very playful. Duchess and her family will be available for adoption when the kittens are old enough to be spayed/neutered. They are available for rescue/foster at any time. Rescue groups may contact our Feline Rescue Coordinator via email ( We can usually help with transportation and also provide combo testing without charge to rescues/fosters. UPDATE: "Duchess" and her kittens went home with one of our fantastic foster mothers on August 3, 2016 <3

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duchess & Kittens, a Marietta Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
