Milo: 10-11 yr old male, Blue Point Siamese
Purchased as kittens, Milo and his sister were 8 yrs old when their parents had a baby.Things didn’t go well with the child and the cats, and after 2+ yrs with the child showing allergic symptoms both Siamese kitties were abandoned at a shelter. Older kitties are at great risk in shelters where even young cats and kittens are euthanized. Did the family realize that their once treasured cats would likely be put down? Probably not. I hope not. It is the policy of most shelters not to give out information like that, although they do make it clear it is their legal right to euthanize.
When asked, Purebreds stepped forward to take in these two sweet cats. My heart leapt up the minute I saw them in their shelter cage (photo below). What a beautiful pair! Nilla is the more dominant of the two and has already gone to her new home. I had really wanted them to go home together but in foster with me, they made it perfectly clear that they wanted to be separated. Milo came in quite upset. He is the most tender of the pair. According to the owner surrender papers, he had a very difficult last two years with the toddler. He lost his position of prominence in his family and some of his confidence at the same time. He had his tail pulled and retreated under the bed. He arrived a quite downtrodden and blue.
At first, he wouldn’t eat well. He moped and drooped. He stared into space. We had a blood panel done on him and his values were fine. He picked at his food. He went to see the vet and checked out well and was scheduled for his dental surgery and cleaning. He had a couple of extractions.
As he got to know us, he recovered though his photos still show some sadness. He is heartbreakingly sweet and affectionate. He just wants to be loved and petted and pampered. He pushes his head down into your hand with great passion. He wants to follow you around and help with your chores. He wants to be part of your life. Milo wants to be the center of your world and, no, he does not want to share that position with another cat. He needs to be an only cat. I don’t know how he would be around a dog. I would not put him around children, either. They would be safe with him as he is so gentle, but he would not be happy.
Neither Milo or Nilla would eat in the shelter so they came to us underweight. Milo has gained back the weight he lost. He is about 7 pounds. He could still gain another pound or two. Like his sister, he has a long, slender, elegant body. He absolutely loves catnip and makes a happy fool of himself with it. He loves to nap under covers and would likely be happy to sleep with you. Want a devoted, loving companion? This is the boy for you!
Milo likes dry food, especially, will occasionally eat wet, and is litterbox perfect.
