My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ - Due to the nature of our adoption process, this foster is only able to consider forever families within 15-20 miles of zip code 75074. A vet reference and trial adoption will be done before the adoption is finalized. Thank you for your understanding.

Named for his poodle “dreadlocks” which resemble those of the famous reggae singer, Marley is a handsome boy. Marley has been aged at about 18-24 months. We believe he is a miniature poodle mix. He weighs about 15 pounds. He definitely has poodle in him but his body is a little bit longer than a poodle, and his legs are a little bit shorter than would be expected in a poodle. He has the poodle coat and does not shed.

When we rescued Marley, he tested heartworm positive. He has now undergone the painful heartworm treatment and the following month of being crated and remaining calm. He is now resuming a normal life.

Marley is full of personality. The other day I was listening to dogs “sing” on the computer. Marley joined right in. Although poodles are supposed to be water dogs, Marley is not a very good swimmer. We took him in the pool and he gave it a good try, but his back end started sinking after a little while (this was probably not helped by his month of being crated after being treated for heartworms). He was very trusting of his people and remained calm. If his people asked him to swim, he was going to give it a try

When I got him, Marley was not crate or house trained. He is now crate trained (although he hates to be crated—he would much rather be with his people), and we are working on the house training. Marley loves people. He gets along well with other dogs although he does tend to invade their space and will stick his nose in their face.

If you think you have a loving forever home for Marley, fill out an application today.

Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175. You can complete an online adoption application on our website http://www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org- we will get back with you asap.

Foster Homes are needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal. Check out our website on how to become a Foster Parent! Visit www.FurryFriendsAnimalRescue.org and look under HOW TO HELP. Furry Friends provides veterinary care - you provide the home and love!.

We also need Volunteers for Adoption Events at Petsmart and Cage Cleaners.
