Ellie Mae's Story...
As promised, we have updates on our new arrival to provide! Ellie Mae the blue tick hound is about 1 years in age. She has been in a home setting and we have learned that she is doing well on her housetraining (a crate is important to continue to help her along). Also - she is good with children (check out pic!) Ellie Mae plays with other dogs nicely, she enjoys romping around and having a grand ole time! She enjoys people very much so and hasn't met a stranger yet! A fenced yard is best for her so she can have THE BEST time romping around off leash.

We recommend and encourage you to complete an application at http://henricohumane.org/adopt/application-for-dogs/ before coming to our next adoption event. To find out if I will be attending our next adoption event, please email dogs@henricohumane.org.

Adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco located at 11331 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA (next to Trader Joe’s) from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ellie Mae, a Richmond Bluetick Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bluetick Coonhound for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Bluetick Coonhound dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bluetick Coonhound breeders who help with Bluetick Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
